Just
a few years ago I was playing with my PS2 thinking..... Damn I dont
want to be a doctor (not that i could afford medical school millions or
anything) and i sure as hell didn't want to be a lawyer (no
offense).
I did dream I was a fire fighter once, but that was just a
dream. I
was tired of hearing my parents telling me to get a job or having them
think that I was a weird person just because I liked to play video
games.
I had always been lost in the seas of fantasy that I got
from video games. Here I didn't need to go to medical school
or choose
any of the professions that other people usually choose. I
could be a pro athlete or an armed warrior. Anyway, I would
of never
guessed that
I would get a video game related career.
See Game Tester Job Openings
My name is Jason Bagget and like so many teenagers and young
adults, I spent years playing video games and more months desperately
trying to earn money.
It all begun when I stumbled onto a blog
online that said something about getting paid to play video
games. At first I thought it was too good to be
true and i
forgot about it. Then the next day I saw something on the
news
about how people actually do get paid to test video games, and now
I was hooked and I
needed to find out more.
I
came back to the original website that I had bookmarked, but it didn't
have that much information and that pretty much sucked. It
would
of been really helpful if someone who knew about the game testing field
was generous enough to share that with me. I wasted a lot of
my
time surfing the web and I even started buying books about the
entertainment industry. Most of them were okay, but they
didn't
really address the specific game tester jobs that i wanted to learn
more about.

Next........
I
went over to my local store and the video game magazines, although with
helpful gaming tips, did not seem to help me in this quest for gamer
jobs. It took me months before i finally got my hands on a guide that
would tell me about the paid test gamers positions and how that part of
the industry worked. To make a long story short, I finally,
got a
game testing job.
I
have to admit that it isn't the perfect job as I thought at first.
However, I still think I'm lucky to be in this field. You
see, in
video
game testing you often have to do projects that can involve playing a
game in certain way to see if it freezes, and you would do it a lot of
times so you can get bored if you don't have nerves of steel.

And as you'll learn yourself when
you get this guide you will see what I'm talking about.
You'll see that video game testing is only
the
beginning if you want to be in the industry. You can start as
a beta game
tester and build your skills so that one day you can be a programmer
(if you're a techie and love computers), a designer, even a producer. Or maybe
you're crazy
enough to stay a game tester.

It IS a Real job.
It
could get hectic with deadlines and tasks to get the job done, that's
true. And what really takes me through those times is knowing
that I contributed to the creation of a game that many people will
enjoy. You see, as a game tester you could be the person who
tests a best selling game, and it wouldn't of been possible without
you.
Sincerely,
Jason Bagget
